Where Character Defines Quality

20 years of hard work, passion, and dedication had turned us into a trusted, high-quality, and distinguished local company! A&J began creating custom cabinets designed and built to each unique house with small 2 -10 crew operations. But, by the end of 2007, A&J had 100 hard-working and talented employees. The Great Recession of 2008 marked the beginning of a period of tribulation for the housing market nationwide, and A&J was not immune. Over the next 5 years, Don would invest everything to keep A&J alive and positioned for a rebound when the housing market recovered. And, although it took some time… REBOUND WE DID! In 2018 we hit production numbers that rivaled A&J’s heyday in 2007. In 2019, A&J officially became a non-toxic / non-hazardous waste producer through eco-friendly practices and switching to a completely water-based finish process. Every chemical & component is now accounted for and A&J reports zero carb emissions on its annual report. In 2020, Nick, Don’s son, excited to keep the A&J spirit alive and serving our PNW community, purchased A&J Custom Cabinets, making A&J a true family business. And…we are excited to boast that we continue to maintain the core values, work ethic, and commitment to quality, that Don set in motion with his vision and passion nearly 40 years ago.

Our Story

A&J Custom Cabinet, Inc. began in the garage of the Sullivan home in 1983. Don Sullivan became a craftsman while attending Clark College, where he learned the techniques needed to build solid and beautiful cabinets. His passion and confidence in this craft helped him make the leap and take a risk to start a manufacturing business of his own. Don is a family man, dedicated to his wife, Kim, and their 5 sons. During those first 5 years, Don put everything into growing A&J during the day while working a second full-time job at night to support his household. He put every penny back into the business and A&J soared.

Manufacturing

Our manufacturing facility is equipped with top-of-the-line CNC equipment that gives us total control over every cabinet and element we make. Everything we produce at A&J Custom Cabinets, Inc. is unique.

Sales

Our Sales Department personally visits every site to talk with project coordinators, understand the exact needs of each client, and develop clear and accurate specs and drawings which ensure precise alignment with customer vision.

Drafting

Our drafting department uses the drawings produced by our sales team in partnership with our clients to produce enhanced custom configurations and CNC instructions for our production team members. This allows for a seamless transition from the architectural designs of our master drafters to the hands of our production team.

Production

Our production team is the perfect blend of expert craftsmanship and the utilization of top of-the-line technology to create the customized cabinets our clients desire. Every morning, we receive new materials to complete the distinct orders scheduled for that day. This keeps us lean, allows us to reduce waste, and keeps us able to produce exactly what is needed for each order every day. We boast high quality materials, starting with 1” thick lumber to produce our face frames, moldings and door materials. This gives us greater control over our product versus ordering pre-manufactured parts from a mill.

Doors

We have a full-service door department that produces everything from flat panel / edge banded doors to solid wood shaker-style doors to routed raised panel doors, drawer fronts and cabinet components. The heart of our finish department is two top-notch flatline CNC machines that use water-based stains mixed in-house, paints, and clear coats to produce an excellent and environmentally friendly finish.

Our Fleet

Our fleet of delivery trucks are loaded daily and deliver all over SW Washington, Idaho and

Oregon. Five service vans leave daily from our facility, following every single job to ensure our product meets our customers quality standards and schedule.
